Our Expert: Mr. Ebo Bentil
Mr. Ebo Bentil is a highly competent and results-oriented Marine Cargo Surveyor with over thirty (30) years of progressive and verifiable experience in cargo inspection, marine surveying, and port operational support within the maritime industry.
In his professional capacity, Mr. Bentil is actively engaged in the supervision and monitoring of vessel discharge operations, including the handling of specialized and project cargo such as mining and heavy-lift equipment. He also coordinates port agency functions to ensure seamless cargo flow, operational efficiency, and compliance with applicable port and terminal regulations.
His core areas of technical expertise include general cargo surveys, containerised cargo inspections, warehouse condition surveys, stock verification exercises, as well as the supervision and control of cargo stuffing and unstuffing operations. He is equally skilled in the preparation and presentation of comprehensive, accurate, and defensible survey reports, tailored for underwriters, Protection and Indemnity (P&I) correspondents, shipowners, charterers, and other shipping principals.
Mr. Bentil has further strengthened his professional standing through specialized maritime and cargo survey training under Lloyd’s in Marseille, France (2015) and Accra, Ghana (2019), culminating in the award of a Lloyd’s Proficiency Certificate, which underscores his technical capability and adherence to international surveying standards.
He is widely recognized for his diligence, integrity, analytical precision, and strict adherence to industry best practices. Mr. Bentil continues to play a pivotal role in enhancing the operational effectiveness and professional service delivery of Gyanson Marine Surveyors Limited as a dependable and highly skilled Marine Cargo Surveyor. He is also the co-founder and director of the company.

Trained under the esteemed Black Star Line, he has served on a wide range of vessel types, acquiring comprehensive operational, navigational, and command expertise within the global maritime industry.
Throughout his career, Captain Dzator has demonstrated exceptional proficiency in shipboard management, cargo operations, and port interface procedures. He brings significant hands-on experience in dry docking supervision, vessel maintenance oversight, and marine inspection services, consistently ensuring compliance with applicable international maritime conventions, regulatory frameworks, and industry best practices.
His technical competence extends to specialized areas including cargo surveying, commercial diving operations, underwater inspections, and associated marine services, making him a valuable asset in complex marine and offshore assignments.
In addition to his operational credentials, Captain Dzator serves as a trusted marine and shipping consultant to a diverse portfolio of local and international clients. In this capacity, he provides expert advisory services on vessel performance, cargo integrity assurance, claims support, and maritime risk mitigation strategies.
